Kell Brook reveals he is aiming to set up a fight with Amir Khan – Boxing news
Kell ‘Special K’ Brook, who currently holds the WBA version of the Inter-continental title, has revealed he is looking forward to a fight with the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion,
Amir Khan.
The 25-year-old undefeated boxer form Sheffield, Brook, who holds a perfect record of winning all of his 24 professional fights, with 16 of them coming by the way of a knockout, is set to defend his title against the Polish combatant, Rafal Jackiewicz, on
Saturday, October 8, 2011.
However, Brook will be targeting down the division’s elite, provided he beats Jackiewicz.
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest, Khan, who is more commonly known as King Khan, on the same note is set to take on Lamont Peterson on December 10, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C. This is Khan’s last fight at the 140-pound
division as he has plans to move up to the 147-pound division in search of some big fights.
Therefore, Brook told the media he has his sights on Khan. Brook stated since all big names like David Haye, Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe are no more there, he wants to be Sky Sports’ next boxing star.
Brook remarked, “Khan is also a possibility because he will be stepping up to welterweight. He’s in my sights. The fans want to see me and Amir fight – I want it, but I’m not sure he wants it. David Haye might not be fighting again, Ricky Hatton and Joe
Calzaghe are gone, and I want to be Sky Sports’ next big boxing star.”
“There’s room for a new boxing star in Britain at the moment and I’m going to be clicking into that gap of elite fighters,” he added.
Khan recently revealed his fight at the welterweight division could be with Matthew Hatton, as he insisted he was approached by Hatton’s camp but let’s see if Brook still sets up a fight with Khan because it will also pull a huge crowd into the arena.
