Kell Brook scheduled to take on Carson Jones in non-title bout - Boxing News
The bout between Kell Brook, the current WBA Inter-Continental and IBF International welterweight champion, and Carson Jones, the current USBA welterweight champion, has officially been finalised and the duo will now headline the pay-per-view on July 7,
2012.
Both pugilists recently met at the press conference where the announcement of the bout was made and shared their thoughts as to how they feel about the upcoming bout.
The event is being promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing and the Saturday night show will also witness Kerry Hope and Grzegorz Proksa take on each other in a title-bout.
Kell, 26, is a young surging Briton who has achieved much in a very short span of time and is now eye balling a world championship title bout. The Yorkshire proud has been in a total 27 bouts and remains undefeated.
He has nailed 18 of his total opponents by knockout and recently collected an impressive unanimous decision win over Mathew Hatton to grab the IBF international welterweight gold.
In addition, he already owns the WBA Intercontinental welterweight title which he grabbed from Lovemore Ndou after collecting a unanimous decision in his favour. His opponent, Carson, 25, has a pretty impressive rather intimidating resume when it comes to
experience.
The Oklahoman Jones has been in a total 46 bouts and emerged victorious in 34. He has nailed 24 of his opponents by knockout and proudly resides within the top 10 World Boxing Organisation rankings.
Though he has lost eight bouts yet he still has an upper hand in almost all the significant facets such as knockout and win ratio, the height and therefore the reach advantage, and last but not the least hefty experience.
Moreover, Carson is also coming from huge wins over names such as Allen Conyers, Ricardo Williams Jr, Said Ouali, and others. During the media interaction, the confident Kell remarked, “It’s a step-up in class again and one that I’m truly ready for. Jones
is experienced for his age and has been avoided, but I want a world title shot and in order to get it, I need to go through him.”
Carson, on the other hand, also vowed that he will give a real tough time to Kell, “Basically Kell Brook is the last person standing in my way to fight for a world title. He will have to kill me to beat me because I have worked too hard to let anyone stop
me from reaching my dream. Kell Brook needs to be afraid, very afraid, because his fans are going to see him put to sleep on July 7.”
The ring for this epic much anticipated bout will be set up at Motorpoint Arena situated in Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom and the show will be televised live on Sky channel.
