Kell Brook sure-footed of scoring a shot at Amir Khan – Boxing News
WBA inter-continental titlist Kell Brook is confident that he will score a shot at the former WBA light heavyweight titlist Amir Khan. Brook and Khan are both Briton fighters, and so the former expects an all-British welterweight showdown if Khan accepts
the fight.
Brook, who remains unbeaten to date with 28 wins in his portfolio, has been actively criticising Khan for his recent knockout loss to Danny Garcia.
“I think with me and Amir Khan down the line it can happen,” said Brook in an interview with Sky Sports. “I think all the fans want the fight to happen, I want the fight, it's down to him. I think he might need to rebuild a bit on his career after getting
knocked out by Garcia, but time will tell.”
Earlier this month, Brook claimed he could easily beat Khan if they both step in the ring together. According to Brook, Khan has been knocked out by super-featherweights, which means the former champion is an easy kill for him.
For now, Brook is pushing the idea of a showdown against Khan too hard. He is consistently poking Khan with the idea of taking up his challenge, even though the Briton has not shown any interest yet in fighting Brook.
“I've said for many years now that when me and him do meet I think accuracy beats speed all day, and I think I've got Amir Khan's number. So when we do meet I'd definitely be in there to take him out.”
Khan lost his WBA light welterweight title to American WBC light welterweight titlist Danny Garcia on July 14 this year. While Khan was initially in control, he suffered a brutal game changing knockout hook in the third round. Khan continued to move to the
fourth round, where he was knocked down twice. Finally, the fight was stopped considering Khan was staggering in the ring.
Brook and a lot of other fighters have been since calling Khan an overrated fighter with mediocre skills. Brook is now looking forward to cash Khan’s declining career. Even though Brook is an unbeatable fighter, he still envies the popularity and status
Khan has achieved in the recent years.
