Kell Brook wants to fight Amir Khan but after becoming a world champion – Boxing news
Kell Brook, who is a former holder of the British welterweight title and the World Boxing Organisation’s Intercontinental title at the same weight, has revealed he wants to fight the current unified World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation
World Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, but only after he becomes a world champion.
The undefeated pugilist Brook, who has won all of his 24 professional fights, with 16 of his fights coming by the way of a knockout, stated he does not want to be a challenger against Khan and he wants to fight him on equal standards.
The Kid, Brook, who is set to face Rafal Jackiewicz in a WBA world title eliminator in Sheffield on October 8, 2011, will challenge for a world title next year. Therefore, the 25-year-old from Sheffield, England reckons if he wins a world title he will have
something to bring on the table against Khan.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I want to have a world title waiting for Khan. I don’t want to come as the challenger I want to bring something to the table as a champion.”
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest warrior, Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, recently knocked out former five-time world champion, Zab ‘Super’ Judah, in the fifth round to claim the IBF title on July 23, 2011 in Las Vegas.
Though it was a dominant performance from Khan as he was leading the American Judah on three scorecards, Brook believes Khan won because Judah was not coming back with anything.
Brook remarked, “Khan might have looked good against [Zab] Judah but Judah wasn’t coming back with anything.”
In the end, Brook declared he wants a 50-50 split with Khan and if this fight happens it would be a complete sell out.
Brook added, “I want that 50/50 split. So I’ll have something waiting for him when he moves up but when that fight happens I think it’s going to be a huge fight in the UK.”
Let’s see if Brook really sets up a clash with Amir Khan, as it is certainly going to be an explosive fight between two of the boxing’s best.
