Kelly Findlay surpasses Nick Savva by three points after the Hove and Henlow meeting on 29th December
Kelly Findlay has been battling for the fourth position with Nick Savva. Currently the two are on the same points but at different rankings. Nick Savva, stands at fourth with 383 points with Kelly Findlay shares the points but sits at fifth position.
This did seem to be the ideal situation for Kelly Findlay thus she tried making out the most from the Hove and Henlow meetings on Thursday night, 29th December.
These were the last open races for the season 2011 and for each open race won there was a point for the trainer so it was a golden chance for every other trainer who was part of the Trainers’ Championship 2011 to get their points as high as possible.
The two pairs who were close to war during this opportunity were Nick Savva, Kelly Findlay and Seamus Cahill, Dean Childs. The prior pair was fighting for the fourth and fifth position with the same points while the latter collided due to a switch
in the last and the second last ranking on the table.
Prior to the meeting at the two race courses, Hove and Henlow, Dean Childs was sixth with 368 points while the last year’s champion trainer, Seamus Cahill, was leading the competition from the bottom, seventh standing with 367 points.
For both the meetings, Kelly Findlay had entered seven hounds, precisely, three at Hove and four at Henlow. She was able to amass three wins altogether against Nick Savva. She won twice at Hove and once at Henlow. Nick Savva sent six entries for Henlow
only, he was not represented at Hove. Even at Henlow he failed to win any of the heats.
The Coral Hove Sprint was won by Kelly Findlay trained Ministry Mayhem, who succeeded in covering the 285 metres track in 16.47 seconds. The son of Ballymac Maeve out of Lady Freckles born in July 2009 made it to the end of the wire in 16.47 seconds
leaving the 6 to 4 favourite for the race, Me Buddy behind by a mere neck’s difference.
She next won the Coral Hove Hurdle that was raced for over a distance of 515 metres. The 7 to 4 joint favourite was able to get hold of the race and the £150 prize money in 30.58 seconds.
Third feather in the cap came its way at Henlow when Kelly Findlay’s Coolavanny Jane was able to cover the 550 metre distance of the December Midi Dup in 33.88 seconds.
None of the six entries of Nick Savva could claim any race which gave a golden opportunity to Kelly Findlay to take up her points by three.
