Kelly J. Breen’s charge My Adonis prevails in the Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park
My Adonis demonstrated all the qualities of a winner in the $99,000, Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park on 8th July, 2012, where he dominated the 1 1/16 mile course with the help of rider, Elvis Trujillo.
The charge of Kelly J. Breen bolted through the track, and defeated the race favourite, Macho Macho, by a narrow margin of half-length.

He covered the distance of the race in an impressive time of 1 minute and 44.98 seconds, whereas the third place was secured by, Window Boy, who was the mount for rider, John Bisono.
The winning rider commented:
"The pace was so slow and the horse is so strong," Trujillo further added: "He was pulling really hard and I could barely hold him back.  He got a little bit tired at the end, but by then we had it won.”
As soon as the race started, My Adonis raced in second place as the lead was taken by Window Boy, who completed the opening quarter-mile in 24.37 seconds.

My Adonis, picked up pace and with Trujillo’s help, overtook the frontrunner by a head at the half-mile marker, which he completed in 47.99 seconds, and completed six furlongs in 1 minute and 11.89 seconds.
Macho Macho, the runner-up, who was mounted by rider Corey Nakatani, raced on the outside for most of the race.

Towards the end, he could not make up for the distance and fell behind, finishing in second place.
Trainer Kelly J. Breen had high aspirations, as he wanted the colt to run in the Kentucky Derby, but did not have enough graded earnings to enter.

He did compete in the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes, where he finished in eighth place. The sophomore toned up a great deal compared to his previous performance, where he was ridden by rider, Ramon Dominguez.
After this race, the trainer has bigger plans for the three-year-old colt and chances are he might compete in the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth as he said:
“The Haskell has always been a thought with this horse." Breen also stated: "Obviously, we’ll wait to see who’s coming and how he’s training before we make a decision on that.”
