Kelly Pavlik vs Gary Lockett?

Question

Who is this Lockett guy I never heard of him, I know he fights out of Wales as does Joe Calzaghe. Is this fight going to be an example of what Pavlik is going to do to Calzaghe if Calzaghe ever grows some marbles and decides to fight Pavlik.

Gary Lockett (31-1, 21 KOs) is the mandatory challenger for one of the champion Kelly Pavlik's belts (WBO) despite the fact that Lockett has never beaten anyone of note in his entire career- thats the sanctioning bodies for you.  I agree that if Pavlik fought Calzaghe, "The Ghost" would most likely make Calzaghe disappear, but I doubt that they will fight because Kelly is too dangerous of an opponent for Joe.  I think that this quote from Lockett sums up the chances of him winning the fight; he's basically saying that if he's going to get his *** wooped, he might as well get paid-

"I'm being paid four or five times more than my previous highest purse.  Some fights are so brutal that you will never be the same again as a fighter- if its going to be the last bout of your career, you might as well get paid well for it."-  from The Ring Magazine.

Gary Lockett is the mandatory contender for Pavlik.  After KP dispatches him(no later than the 7th round) look for Kelly to start trying to fight Arthur Abraham to begin to unify titles.  I didn't think Calzaghe looked partucularly impressive saturday and I believe Kelly would soundly beat him

He is the mandatory Challenger for one of the alphabet soup titles Pavlik currently holds.  A solid fighter with a good record, it will be a better fight than what people expect, he has some skills.  But I think Pavlik should win it, Kelly is no slouch himself.  Lockett is another Welshman, from the same country as Calzaghe.  It will be an interesting fight, not a cake walk for Pavlik.
