http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Kelly-c24395 believes that Raheem Sterling can establish himself as a regular in the Reds starting line-up and tipped him to be a hit, this coming term.
The 17-year old already won the appreciation of his manager, Brendan Rodgers following his phenomenal goal against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. The winger jinked two defenders before unleashing a perfectly placed curler into the bottom corner, to claim his
first scalp in the professional circuitry.
After proving his mettle at the Under-18 level, the English International finally broke into the senior team last season. He made his Liverpool debut against Wigan Athletic in March, 2012. In total, he has capped 4 professional appearances for the Merseyside
club.
Not many people will doubt the fact that Sterling is one of the rising prospects in the Premier League. Nevertheless, his manager still believes that there was still a lot of room for improvement for the diminutive winger, and he will require time to establish
himself in the team.
Kelly, however, had a different say on the matter. After undergoing practice sessions with him, the 22-year old revealed that he was the most difficult player to mark for him, and was thoroughly impressed with his prowess and talent at such a young age.
The English footballer is reported to have said, “He's a nuisance to mark in training and he showed everyone [on Sunday] what he is capable of.”
“He's doing well in the first team at the moment and I think opportunities will come his way. If he keeps working hard and keeps his feet on the ground he will get that opportunity.”
The Reds experienced a successful pre-season campaign, which saw them suffer just one defeat out of their 6 games. They beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Gomel-c39117 in both the fixtures of their Europa League qualifier tie to safely guarantee their passage into the next round of the second
tier European competition.
Kelly was delighted with the performance of his team against the Belarusian outfit, and felt that they were heading into their Premier League opener against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, high on confidence.
“I thought some of the football we played against Gomel in the UEFA Europa League was fantastic and hopefully we will put on some great performances for the fans here,” he added.
