Kelsey Crane clinches Women’s 500yard freestyle gold – High School State Championships
Kelsey Crane of KLAHO clinched gold medal of the Women’s 500yard freestyle at the 2012 High School State Championships on Saturday, November 10.
Crane, who entered the final round as strongest swimmer for gold medal, met expectations of her followers by doing the same in the playoff. With her notable efforts, she faced no difficulty in the distant event and reached the wall for the crown.
Her gruelling effort remained prominently ahead of her competitors as she tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 5 minutes and 19.17 seconds.
The champion was followed by Madeline Gillman of Bell, who stayed four and a half body length slower and tapped the wall with a timing of 5 minutes and 23.64 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Gwendoly Roley of SEH, who stayed 0.21 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall as third position holder with an effort of 5 minutes and 23.85 seconds.
Roley was followed by Gabr Godlewski of W.F, who stayed considerably slower from her former finisher and settled on the wall as fourth fastest finisher by posting a time of 5 minutes and 26.12 seconds.
Fifth spot of the event was obtained by Kael McCloskey of ARCH, who stayed almost four seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by producing an effort of 5 minutes and 30.03 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Han Willoughby of CAP, who stayed 4.23 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and clocked a time of 5 minutes and 34.26 seconds.
Willoughby was chased by Alicia Hughes of PULL, who was two and a half body length behind and touched the wall with an effort of 5 minutes and 36.83 seconds.
Subsequently, Hughes remained significantly ahead of Keesha Matz of W.F, who completed her race in eighth place by submitting a time of 5 minutes and 38.32 seconds.
In addition, Crane received huge admiration from the audience for her gruelling efforts and told that she would continue her struggle to impress her fans by achieving the same at higher levels of swimming.
