Kemar Roach hopes to rattle Pakistan with pace and bounce on Kensington Oval track in Barbados
West Indian bowler, Kemar Roach, is hoping to have a major impact on the third One Day International (ODI) against Pakistan set to be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
He hopes that the bouncy track at the venue would help him make inroads in Pakistan’s batting line-up that has thus far cantered to easy wins in the first two games of the series.
The dominance of the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 over the Caribbean Kings started in the World Cup quarter-final last month where they trounced the West Indians by a 10 wicket margin.
In the last three games including the quarter final the West Indians have taken a mere 5 wickets. Four of the wickets have fallen to leg-spinner, Devendra Bishoo, while the fifth one was a run out in the second game at Gros Islet in St.
Lucia.
Roach stated that the match is a crucial one for his team and he would try his best to lead the attack and trouble the Cornered Tigers with pace and bounce.
"This is a big match in the series - a crucial match. We know we need a win and we will be coming out to play hard. We have fallen behind two-nil, so here is the time to get things right and get a win and stay in the series", Roach said.
"It's always good to play at home in very familiar conditions. I'm looking to hit my 'areas' and look to make inroads into the batting. I always look for wickets with the new ball - that always puts pressure on the batsmen to come".
The fast bowler has had a good run in recent months. In the premier World Cup tournament the pacer rattled the opposition with a hat-trick against lowly http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 and had good returns in the other games with the exception of the quarter-final
where the low score put up by the batsmen ensured that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team cantered to an easy win.
In the World Cup tournament Roach took 13 wickets in six games, but has gone wicket-less in 18.3 overs in the two games he's played this series, conceding 101 runs. In fact he has not picked up a single wicket in the last three ODIs he
has played, including the World Cup quarter-final at Mirpur in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
"The pitch (at Beausejour) in St Lucia was a bit on the slow side and it was a bit flat. Kensington is usually somewhat faster and offers more to my type of bowling so I will be looking for better returns. You still have to work hard, there
are no half measures. Cricket at this level is never easy, so we know we have to keep working hard to reap success".
Roach thinks that the West Indians need a golden passage in the game which can turn it towards them; he added that the bowling attack has to ensure that they create wicket taking opportunities and hope that the penetration can be made possible
through the visitors batting line-up.
Roach is from Barbados and the country celebrates the Heroes day today, the fast bowler hopes that he would be the centre of attraction for the fans and produce a performance, which makes him a superstar on the heroes’ day for the fans
of the game in the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, the hosts have retained the same team that took part in the second ODI match.
