Kemar Roach looking at BBL stint to boost international T20 appearances – Cricket News Update
West Indies fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KAJ-Roach-c1758, is hopeful that a fruitful stint in the ongoing Big Bash League with Brisbane Heat will give a boost to his international T20 aspirations.
Roach has become the spearhead of the Test side over the past 12 months, but has struggled to find a permanent place for the team’s T20 endeavours. He took 39 wickets at 22.25 in seven Tests this year before a knee injury forced him to sit out the first half of the team’s trip to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 where they featured in the two-match Test series.
He however, recovered in time to take part in the limited-overs arena, where he featured in the five-match ODI series, along with the only T20I. It was Roach’s first T20 appearance since May 2010, where he conceded 36 runs at the expense of a wicket.
Despite his obvious lack of presence in the T20 circuit, he was still picked up by Heat as their overseas player for the current edition. Roach did not take part in the opening clash against Hobart Hurricanes, and further sat out the dramatic next clash against the Adelaide Strikers as he failed to overcome the jetlag.
Nonetheless, the pacer is determined to make the most of his time in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, and help his current outfit earn success in the lucrative competition, while further enhancing his own chances of featuring for the reigning World T20 champions.
"I haven't been picked for the West Indies in Twenty20 for a little while," Roach told reporters on Monday. "I'm raring to get back into the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Twenty20 side and hopefully it starts here with a good performance in this tournament."
Roach also offered his thought on the Gabba track, on which he featured for his national team in 2009, claiming it to aid the fast bowler.
"I'm looking forward to getting out there," he said."I've heard about the Gabba, it's good for fast bowling so I'll go out there and give it the best I've got."
Apart from Roach, there is plenty of Windies flair to look out for in the current season, with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869 all in action for their respective franchises.
