Ken Block says no stop in America for the Gymkhana World Tour in 2012
Professional rally driver and co-founder of DC Shoes Ken Block confirmed that the Gymkhana World Tour will not be making a stop in America this year.
During an interview with ESPN, the 44-year-old Californian said that even though the popularity of the sport is growing in America over the recent years, the demand in America is still not as high as the rest of the world. Therefore, there is not any American
stop of the five-stop Gymkhana World Tour.
He admitted that due to the huge interest of international audience in his Gymkhana shows, he himself cannot help but feel excited about visiting their countries and putting on a show in front of them. The response that he receives is flattering and satisfying
at the same time, compelling him and his friends to push themselves harder.
Block, who is all set to kick off his 19-event season with Rally America’s Rally in the 100 Acre Wood on Friday in Salem, Missouri, also dropped the beans on latest Gymkhana video.
“Gymkhana 5 will be released around the end of June or July. The demand and interest in those videos has been overwhelming. And as long as the fans keep watching, DC will keep paying for me to go out and have fun. We're working now on trying to find some
unique concepts and locations. It's a long process trying to find unique locations and things to do with the car. It gets harder every year. It's a car; I can't kickflip it. But that's part of the fun for me,” conceded Block.
The member of Monster World Rally Team had recently lifted the curtain off his 2012 schedule through a two-part YouTube video. The first of the two videos is an interview spoof featuring Nick Swardson who has taken on the role of Block while giving hilarious
answers to questions which contain information about the rally racer’s plans for the year.
The second video, dubbed “Car p**n” by its maker, is a music video that highlights the details of the cars that Block will be riding during the course of the year.
Block is not only renowned for his accomplishments in rally racing, but has also earned the respect of action sports community while competing in skateboarding, snowboarding and motocross.
