Final round of the 2012 Wuxi Classic qualifying session finished at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield featuring 16 potters who will play in the initial round of the event at the Wuxi Sports Center in Wuxi, China. The 2012 Wuxi Classic is now one of
the major ranking snooker events of the calendar so the level of excitement has increased among the potters.
However, former World Snooker Champion from Ireland, Ken Doherty has made his way successfully into the opening round of the tournament. The veteran potter was up against the youngster Jack Lisowski into final round encounter and was able to defeat him by
the score line of 5-3. Lisowski played impressively in the first session of the match but slipped down in the second.
The legendary potter and now a snooker coach grabbed first two scrappy frames quickly firing two classy breaks of 63 points to hit early lead by the score line of 2-0. Lisowski fought back to level the game 2-2 before the first session of the game finished.
After that, the young Englishman could win only one frame against the Irishman while Doherty swept the table in three frames to ensure his victory and entrance in the Wuxi Sports Center. Doherty has now made his way into the wild card round where he will
meet a Chinese wild card holder.
In another final round qualifier, former Snooker Shootout winner, England’s Barry Hawkins outclassed Jimmy Robertson by the score line of 5-4 after a tussling encounter at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. The match up was an outstanding display of
snooker skills from both potters as they went neck-to-neck in the second session of the match.
Robertson gave a classy snooker display in the first session and grabbed early lead of 3-0. After that the Englishman slowed down as Hawkins bounced back brilliantly to hit the victory by 5-4.
On the other hand, India’s Aditya Mehta, who showed great determination against Jimmy White in the third round match and defeated him 5-1, failed to improvise and after a hard struggle, lost to Jamie Cope by 4-5.
