Question:

Ken Holland: Stupid or Funny?

I am really bored and just finished my essay for school, so this was the best question I could come up with.

Ken Holland, the GM of Detroit, was talking about Detroit and their last Stanley Cup the other day. I am not sure if this was intentional but he said:

"It seems like a long time; it's been four years."

Four years, eh?

I could of swore 4 years ago in 2004 Tampa Bay won the Cup, and that Detroit last won in 2002 which was 6 years ago. But hey, I am not a NHL GM, am I? I wouldn't know any better. lol

So, what do you think: Intentional or just an innocent mistake?

I say a bit of both??

What about you?

  1. Maybe he is from Mars.

  2. i think that every year the red wings are highly favored to be cup contenders and when they get knocked out early in the playoffs it's a big disapointment. i think every hockey fan in detroit and every member of the organization expects to win every year because they are just that good and they havent won a cup since 2001 and the fact that their playoff success has been limited since, it has felt like an eternity since the last cup victory.

  3. probly an innocent mistake.

how many years have you been an NHL GM? how many times have you addressed the media? how many times have you written a perfect paper or given a perfect speech?

well, whatever it is ... once you've matched Holland, then maybe there will be something to this question. in the meantime, you may want to look around and notice that ...

(in hushed tones) no one is perfect ...

it's not a big deal. so don't try to make it one.

frankly, even if it WAS 6 years, the Leafs haven't won it for a long time (some teams have NEVER won it, and would kill, just to be in the SCF). the statement was silly. but i'm sure the context might shed a little light on the subject. most quotes don't make sense if you chop off the context.

add - well, it was a big enough deal to ask a question. look out world, here comes Jacob. he just got a 40/40 on his English test!!! He'll make no mistakes as an NHL GM. you heard it from him. that's pretty high praise from HIS English teacher.

look, i don't care either way. good for you. i'm really happy that you got 40/40, and it's fine that you asked the question. i ain't gonna lose sleep over it. but if myself, and every other poster on here, had a question if the Detroit Free Press, let's say, or the Detroit News had a typo ... big deal.

your question was, "Stupid or funny?" well. Holland ain't stupid. it's amazing that he's been able to draft high quality players very late in the draft.

and i don't find people's simple (human nature) imperfections funny, since i'm not perfect myself.

maybe one day, i can be as cool as you.

    simple

  4. I think he is only referring to the fact that the SC has been awarded 4 times since the Wings last won it. Remember the lockout in '05. I don't think he was thinking in calendar years.

  5. who cares ken holland is prolly the best gm in hockey and he can say whatever he wants as long as he still does his job

  6. very well said you.  I'm constantly getting corrected from my know-it-all teenage kids.

  7. I didn't catch that....maybe it was an old interview lol
