Ken Takakuwa dominates Men’s 200m IM heats: Day five - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Ken Takakuwa dominated the qualification rounds of Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on day five of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, April 6.
Takakuwa devastated hopes of his challengers by occupying top qualification spot of the discipline. With his immaculate efforts and stupendous pace, he managed to outperform his strongest competitor over the finishing end.
Takakuwa stayed hardly one stroke ahead of his following rival and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 59.64 seconds for first position of the discipline. His effort remained 0.15 seconds ahead of Daiya Seto, who earned second best position of the discipline
and settled on the wall by posting a time of 1 minute and 59.79 seconds.
Seto was chased by Kousuke Hagino, who was nearly 0.16 seconds slower and transpired on the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 59.95 seconds for third position.
Hagino was followed by Takuto Ueki, who stayed nearly one second behind and posted a time of 2 minutes and 01.01 seconds for fourth qualifying spot of the discipline. Ueki was trailed by Takumi Ichikawa, who earned fifth finest spot of the event by posting
a time of 2 minutes and 01.34 seconds.
In the meantime, Asami Chida conquered top position of the Women’s 800m freestyle, as she hit the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 36.53 seconds.
Her effort remained 0.13 seconds ahead of Maiko Fujino, who emerged on the finishing end as second position holder by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 36.66 seconds.
Fujino was chased by Yurie Yano, who remained almost five seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 41.44 seconds for third position.
She was followed by Ayano Koguchi, who suffered a loss of almost 0.20 seconds and posted a time of 8 minutes and 41.67 seconds for fourth position.
Koguchi stayed marginally ahead of Misato Iwanaga, who ended her swim in fifth best place by posting a time of 8 minutes and 44.75 seconds.
In addition, these qualifying swimmers will face each other in the next round of their respective events.
