Kendall Dawson occupies Women’s 400m IM gold: Day four – YMCA National Championship
Kendall Dawson of Orlando-FL occupied gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day four of the 2012 YMCA National Long Course Championship at Georgia Institute of Technology Aquatics Center on Thursday, July 26.
Dawson continued her immaculate efforts in the distant IM discipline and made her way to the finishing blockade for gold medal. With her utter determination, she sustained her fastest qualification spot of the event and reached the finishing end for gold
medal.
The 15-year-old Dawson stayed considerably ahead of her opponents throughout the discipline and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 4 minutes and 57.86 seconds.
The champion was followed by Kiera Molloy of Triangle Area-NC, who remained 2.05 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade as second position holder by producing a time of 4 minutes and 59.91 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Madeline Hoch of West Shore-PA, who remained 0.39 seconds apart and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 5 minutes and 00.30 seconds.
Subsequently, fourth fastest qualification spot of the event was secured by Savanna Faulconer of Middle Tyger-SC, who remained 1.06 seconds slower from overpowering the bronze medallist and tapped the wall with the timing of 5 minutes and 01.36 seconds.
Faulconer was trailed by her teammate, Amanda McNulty, who stayed one and a half body length apart and touched the wall with the timing of 5 minutes and 02.84 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was secured by McNulty’s team-member, Annie Gillig, who remained 0.34 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 5 minutes and 03.18 seconds.
The 17-year-old Gillig was followed by Katie Evans of Greenwich-CT, who stayed marginally slower from her and tapped the wall with an effort of 5 minutes and 03.35 seconds for seventh position.
Evans was chased by Astrid Swensen of North Shore-MA, who finished eighth in the event by producing an effort of 5 minutes and 04.82 seconds.
Furthermore, Dawson expressed happiness over her victory in the eight-lap IM event and said that she would try her best to continue the same in future events.
