Kendall Marshal believes that he has a lot to learn at the start of his career – NBA Update
Kendall Marshall has all the making of a true point guard in the NBA.
The player, who was drafted as the number 13th selection by the Phoenix Suns, recently took part in the Las Vegas Summer League, playing for the first time with his new team and has shown significant signs of improvement.
However the young man believes that he has to change everything in his game to be successful in the NBA.
“Everything,” Marshall said. “Nothing is where it needs to be. Really, there’s not one thing that I feel like it’s where it needs to be. There’s a lot of things I need to get better at.”
The young guard out of North Carolina believes that his physical fitness is not up to a level where he can be comfortable of playing a fully fledged NBA season.
“I need to get in the gym a lot,” he added. “I need to work on my body. Eighty-two games is a very long time, just to be able to be durable playing at this level. “
Marshall has seen a lot of changes happening in the Phoenix roster, ever since his arrival. Days after joining the franchise, legendary point guard Steve Nash bid good bye to the organization and the Suns have also allowed Aaron
Brooks, Grant Hill, Robin Lopez and Hakim Warrick to leave the franchise.
However with the arrival of Goran Dragic, Michael Beasley and Luis Scola, Marshall believes that the Suns have a bright chance in the coming season.
So far he has only taken part in four games of the Las Vegas Summer league and given his reputations, it does not come as much of a surprise that his assists number of 6.5 was ranked the highest.
However it is the ability to take care of the ball, which seems to be lacking at the moment. Marshall turned the ball over 3.2 times per game in those games – a number he wants to reduce prior to the start of his NBA career.
“There’s a lot I need to get better at, but this is good though. I’d rather it be now than during the season that I’m learning these things. Hopefully I can take the things I’m learning this week and get better so I’m prepared
for the season and training camp.”
