Kendall Marshall opens up about the rookie transition program – NBA Update
Phoenix Suns rookie Kendall Marshall has been taking part in the NBA’s rookie transition program along with the rest of the young prospects who were inducted into the league back in late June.
The purpose of the program is to offer in-depth details regarding the incentives of playing in NBA and the superstar status that comes along with it.
The attendance was very high with a total of 110 players taking part in this year’s program as it was cancelled last season because of the lockout.
From making the rookies aware of the services offered by the NBA which includes private counselling and financial advice, every detail regarding life on the professional level was discussed at the program and Marshall seems to
have picked up a lot.
"I didn't know how in-depth we would go and how much it could really apply to me," Marshall said. "It turns out I've really learned a lot."
All three days of the program were jam packed on schedule as a lot of things were discussed regarding how the decisions should be made by these players in the NBA. It is common belief that professional athletes are the faces of
their respective organizations both on and off the court. Hence, the decisions they make not only matter to them but to people around them and Marshall seems to have picked up that fact.
"You hear the financial stories about guys who go bankrupt and you hear about the relationship stories about guys that have things go wrong with their spouse or girlfriend. You always think that can't happen to you, but the odds
are that it can happen. They've done a great job of preparing us for that and bringing it to realization and making us want to make the right decisions."
Marshall could have a good career in the NBA as he is one of the best point guards to be coming into the NBA this year.  He had a successful college tenure with the University of North Carolina and will have the chance to learn
his trait from one of the better point guards in the business in the form of Goran Dragic.
