Kendrick Perkins only drank water on night of arrest, Says Publicist Denise White – NBA Report
Kendrick Perkins was recently involved in an act of public misdemeanour which ultimately led to his arrest. He was detained over the charges of excessive drinking, however, his publicist has recently spoken out that all Perkins
had that night was water and not even a drop of alcohol.
The incident took place last Friday, late into the night. The Oklahoma City Thunder star got caught up in a fight with the manager of a local club and started acting out of control. The police arrived on the scene and swiftly arrested
Kendrick.
The initial reports were that due to excessive drinking, Perkins had lost control over himself, which led to the brawl. Later, Kendrick asserted that the fight was over a sum of money which the club manager had to pay to the Perkins
Foundation.
Although he has already started dealing with the issue at hand, the consequences of such an act might be more far reaching than expected. This is because the Oklahoma City fans are not used to such news from their team. Everyone
on their squad, with the exception of Perkins now, has never had a legal run in with the law.
Even though this was Perkins’ first ever offence, eyebrows are still expected to rise. However, Perkins himself has expressed deep regret and dismay over the issue, partly because he thought the situation was under control and
the cops only made it worse.
“Although these may be misdemeanours, it’s a big deal to Kendrick,” said Denise White, a publicist for Perkins.. “He’s not happy about how things happened that evening and feels like the police were out of hand….”
White also went on to say that the allegations against Kendrick were out of place as he did not even touch a single drop of alcohol that night. White denied all charges made on the basis of public intoxication. “He was not drinking
alcohol, nor was he intoxicated,” said White, “Not one drop of alcohol Friday night. We’re not sure why they said Kendrick was intoxicated.”
The case could have been easily concluded using a breathalyzer or blood test. However, neither was performed before arresting the star man, which was rather unusual, as Kendrick was charged with public intoxication. White also
said that they had witnesses who were willing to testify to the fact that Perkins was not drinking that night.
White also stated that the police officials were “out of hand”, as they did not deal with the matter in a fair manner. However, it seems that the case will now only be resolved through the court. Overall, Perkins believed that
whatever happens, his image as well as his PR has been smeared by the irresponsible actions of the police.
