Kenichi Tago shows Marc Zwiebler an early exit in Men’s Singles category at Li Ning China Open
Japan’s Kenichi Tago found an amazing start in Men’s Singles category as he did not face any trouble in defeating Germany’s Marc Zwiebler in first round at Li Ning China Open 2012 on Wednesday, November 14, in China.
The World Number Nine Tago, who has been struggling hard to find a winning rhythm in the last few tournaments, worked hard in the arena and managed to end up the match as a winner by taking 47 minutes on court.
Japanese shuttler was in staggering form as he did not lose his focus when it mattered most and remained successful in winning the match in straight games with a reasonable total on score board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Zwiebler put in extra effort in the opening game but failed to maintain his rhythm in the second set and eventually went down to his rival without nailing any set.
In the first set, the unmatched speed and powerful strokes of Tago helped him to take charge of the pace from the starting points.
The fifth seeded Japanese shuttler kept the tempo of rallies at the highest level and impressed local fans with his lofty craft all the way to set up an 11-8 margin on the board until the one-minute break.
After the break, Zwiebler played better badminton and made the score levelled at 18-18. He stayed close to his higher ranked rival until the score reached at the breath-taking stage of 21-21.
At this crucial situation, Tago showed a wonderful performance as he played controlled badminton and remained successful in winning the set with a close margin of 23-21.
In the second game, Zwiebler showed a wonderful performance this time as he played with impressive precision and managed to take a comfortable 11-7 lead on the board until the break.
After the break, Tago impressed the crowd by increasing his speed and managed to push his rival on back foot which helped him to make the score equal by reaching at 13-13.
Tago was composed and positive on court in the ending points and he nailed the second game with a solid margin of 21-16.
The in-form Japanese shuttler finished up this Men’s Singles first round battle in straight sets with a decent 23-21 and 21-16 score on the board.
