Kenmore Elite side by side refrigerator freezer

Question

We are planning an extended leave from our home. My question is this; can I safely unplug this appliance while we are away (cleaning it out of course). I've heard on older products that you should leave them running. In this case we may be away as long as five months. I plan to unplug all our other appliances during this absence. Will my refrigerator/freezer be ok when we plug it back in. We bought this refrigerator brand new and it is only about 19 months old.
