Question:

Kenmore Refrigerator not cooling well.

Hello, We have a 1999 Kenmore Side by Side Ice and Water Refrigerator. The model inside says 25359482993 Model type is SI 24. We've noticed over the past week that the right side is not staying cold. The milk is barely cold. We've tried turning it up all the way to it's coldest setting the other day. The freezer is keeping most things frozen, except the ice coming out of the ice maker is quickly softening and melting together in the bin.

I was reading other peoples problems and responses and came across the part with the vents being blocked by something or ice I believe. Well I took most of the stuff out and there is a slight ice build up on most of the back wall now, which I don't remember there being before (Although who checks for ice build up all the time, so I could be wrong. :) ) Toward the bottom with all the bottom vents in the back of the freezer they are all blocked solid with ice. Could this be our problem somewhere down the line? Or would there have to be more blockages all the way up the back wall? Do we just try to chop down the ice or what is recommended there. Do we need to shut the whole thing down and get those vents at the bottom to defrost?

Thank you for any advice you can provide!
