Question:

Kenmore dishwasher not working after power outage?

Hi! My dishwasher was running when we had a power outage. It now will only say E6 or E7 or E8, I have no idea what these mean, as the dishwasher came with the house, no instruction manual. It is running, but no water. It is a kenmore model, not overly new. It did this one other time, when I stopped it after it had been running for awhile. That time It eventually somehow stopped, but I have no idea what I did. The controls are digital. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Any time any appliance acts up I recommend unplugging it & then plugging it back in after letting it sit for a minute...you probably need to "reset" the dishwasher.  You may even try making sure the power is off/a cycle is not "running" flip the fuse off & letting it rest & then flipping it back.

  2. Call Sears. 1-800 4 my home. No I don't work for sears.

  3. If I were you, I'd Google the dishwasher type you have and see if you can find anything.  If not, I'd Google the problem you're having and see if any bites there.

Could be something simple, then again, a wire may have fried in the outage.  Or maybe the unit needs resetting (unplug and replug back in) or a fuse is blown.

Lastly, I'd go to Kenmore's web page and see if there is a way to contact them and I'd email them and let them know what your situation is.  I am sure you will hear back from someone.  Good luck!

  4. Funny....I DO work for Sears, lol. Go to the Sears website (www.sears.com). Look for a "parts" button at the home page. Click that. At the parts home page, key in the model of your dishwasher - you should find that on a plate somewhere on your appliance (it's a 3 digit number, a period, then a 5 or 6 digit number). Once the available parts page comes up for your particular model, enter the key word "manual". You can order the owners manual for your product at a very minimal charge. It will list the various "error" codes and what they mean.

  5. check your breakers it may have tripped
