Kenneth To and Belinda Hocking perform well in Stockholm: Day one - 2011 FINA World Cup
Australia’s young athletes, Kenneth To and Belinda Hocking put up a great a show at the 2011 FINA World Cup series, in Sweden, on Saturday, October 15. The session of the competition organised the Men’s 100m Individual Medley and Women’s 200m back-stroke
finals.
Kenneth To hit the finishing wall with a mouth shattering time of 52.02 seconds to win the 100m IM title. To was the gold medallist in the 4x100m IM meet at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, in Singapore.
Japan’s Yuma Kosaka picked silver title by submitting an impressive time of 53.80 seconds. United States’ Tyler Mcgill earned bronze medal by posting a winning time of 54.38 seconds, whereas, Norway’s Aleksander Hetland earned fourth place honours by posting
a time of 54.53 seconds.
Lucas Salatta finished fifth with a time of 54.79 seconds, while Yuya Horihata picked sixth place with a mark of 54.95 seconds. In addition, Great Britain’s Lenis Coleman earned seventh place honours by submitting a time of 56.08 seconds and eighth place
went to Colombia’s Daniel Lundahl with a time of 56.36 seconds.
On the other side, Kenneth To’s compatriot, Belinda Hocking, took home the Women’s 200m back-stroke title by posting a scintillating time of 2 minutes and 05.76 seconds. Meanwhile, Canada’s Brooklynn Snodgrass earned silver medal by producing an impeccable
time of 2 minutes and 08.47 seconds and Sandra Hafstrom of Colombia picked bronze in a time of 2 minutes and 08.68 seconds.
Additionally, Hungary’s Evelyn Verraszto got fourth position by posting a time of 2 minutes and 09.28 seconds and Ida Lindborg of Colombia settled for fifth place with a mark of 2 minutes and 12.11 seconds. The session of the respective race produced some
other inspiring results, as Veronica Bjorlykke of Norway picked sixth spot by posting a time of 2 minutes and 13.19 seconds.
Meanwhile, Colombia’s Linda Eriksson earned seventh place honours with a time of 2 minutes and 15.07 seconds. Last, but not the least, Sofia Svensson of Colombia picked eight spot by posting a time of 2 minutes and 16.95 seconds.
The stunning efforts of all swimmers impressed the arena, while the toppers were awarded accolades and cash prizes after the session’s result. The third round of the seven stop 2011 FINA World Cup series is scheduled to take place in Moscow from today.
