Kenneth To captures Men’s 100m IM gold – EnergyAustralia SC Championships
Kenneth To of Trinity Grammar captured gold medal of the Men’s 100m Individual Medley (IM) on last day of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Sunday, September 16.
The 20-year-old To demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the shortest IM event and sprinted his way towards the finishing blockade for the title. He faced no trouble from his fellow swimmers throughout the discipline and improved the Australian record
of the event.
To remained in a lead of full body length over his following swimmer and transpired on the finishing blockade in an improved national record timing of 51.64 seconds.
The gold medallist remained 1.02 seconds faster from Tommaso D’Orsogna of West Coast, WA, who followed him on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 52.66 seconds.
D’Orsogna was chased by Sam Beinke of Lefevre Portside, who stayed 1.34 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing blockade as third best finisher with a timing of 54.00 seconds.
Beinke was followed by Justin James of Mackay, QLD, who was half a body length slower from his preceding swimmer and settled on the finishing end as fourth best swimmer by reporting a time of 54.50 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Cameron Wong of Norwood, SA, who remained 0.55 seconds apart and made his way to the finishing end with an effort of 55.05 seconds.
Wong was traced by Tommy Sucipto of Leisurepark, who remained 0.28 seconds away from his former finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 55.33 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh best place of the event was obtained by Tim Halliday of Sydney Uni, NSW, who remained almost two strokes apart and clocked an effort of 55.70 seconds.
Halliday was chased by Daniel Blackborrow of Melbourne VIC, who stayed 0.67 seconds apart and touched the wall with a timing of 56.37 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, To was extremely pleased with his gold finish in the 100m discipline and articulated his desire of continuing the same at forthcoming swimming events.
