Kenneth To captures Men’s 200m IM gold – EnergyAustralia SC Championships
Kenneth To of Trinity Grammar captured gold medal of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on day three of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Friday, September 14.
The 20-year-old To showered his expertise in the 200m discipline as he sustained his top qualification spot of the event and touched the wall for the title.
His impeccable pace remained significantly ahead of his following swimmer and touched the wall for gold medal with a superb timing of 1 minute and 53.69 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Travis Mahoney of Nunawading, who remained one and a half body length behind and occupied silver medal of the discipline by submitting an effort of 1 minute and 55.11 seconds.
Mahoney was traced by Justin James of Mackay, QLD, who stayed almost two seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall with a wonderful effort of 1 minute and 57.08 seconds for bronze medal.
The third position holder was followed by Sam Beinke of Lefevre Portside, who stayed 0.54 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end as fourth fastest swimmer by producing a time of 1 minute and 57.62 seconds.
Beinke was chased by Stephen Parkes of Sydney Uni, NSW, who remained only 0.21 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall for fifth position with a timing of 1 minute and 57.83 seconds.
Parkes was chased by Nicholas Groenewald of Nunawading, who was considerably slower from his former finisher and ended his race in the sixth place by reporting an effort of 2 minutes and 01.46 seconds.
Seventh spot of the event was secured by Bradley Lewis of Liverpool, NSW, who stayed 0.05 seconds apart and tapped the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 01.51 seconds.
Similarly, Lewis was traced by Andrew Kennedy of Nudgee Brothers, who remained 1.49 seconds apart and touched the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 03.00 seconds.
In addition, To expressed happiness after his accomplishment in the discipline and stated his desire of achieving the same at international levels of sport.
