Kenneth To wins Men’s 100m freestyle gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Kenneth To of Australia won gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle on first day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, October 2.
The Australian swimmer demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the four-lap freestyle event and paved his way to the finishing wall for the title. He showed no leniency to his opponents throughout the discipline and proved his eligibility for the crown.
To remained just a stroke ahead of his following swimmer and finished first in the race by submitting a time of 46.89 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Anthony Ervin of USA, who was 0.15 seconds apart and finished second in the event by reporting a time 47.04 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Roland Schoeman of South Africa, who was only 0.20 seconds slower from overpowering his foregoing finisher and completed the podium by winning bronze medal with a timing of 47.24 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Tommaso D’Orsogna of Australia, who was just 0.06 seconds behind and submitted an effort of 47.30 seconds.
Similarly, D’Orsogna was traced by Darian Townsend of South Africa, who stayed 0.21 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end as fifth fastest swimmer by clocking a time of 47.51 seconds.
Townsend faced tough competition from Kyle Richardson of Australia in the 100m event but managed to overpower him over the finishing end. Richardson remained 0.01 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and posted a time of 47.52 seconds for sixth position.
Richardson was followed by Jason Dunford of Kenya, who stayed 0.99 seconds behind and made his way to the finishing wall for seventh place by touching the wall with a timing of 48.51 seconds.
Dunford was trailed by Cameron Simpson of New Zealand, who suffered a loss of 0.34 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing wall as eighth fastest swimmer by producing a time of 48.85 seconds.
In addition, To was delighted with his gold winning form and said that he would continue his hard work to achieve the same at upcoming events.
