does anyone know the title of keneth pike's book dealing with phonetic/phonemic and etic/emic. somenone is asking me some questions about etic/emic and i want to find a copy so that i can properly answer her questions.

  1. This one of the key books by Kenneth Pike:

    [1954, 1955, 1960] 1967. Here he first stated the distinction between etic and emic:

    Language in Relation to a Unified Theory of the Structure of Human Behavior. 2nd ed. The Hague: Mouton. (First edition in three volumes, 1954, 1955, 1960.)
