Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has claimed that the Reds will be only concerned about getting maximum points when they host the English champions, Manchester United, on Saturday, October 15.
With both sides having dominated the league for periods in their respective histories, Liverpool and Manchester United enjoy a historic rivalry. However, Dalglish has stated that the upcoming fixture will not be given any special treatment.
The Merseysiders will welcome the current League leaders to Anfield and the hosts will be hoping to cut down the point difference. Liverpool are currently six points behind Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s men, and Dalglish has asserted that the Reds will give their
best to dent United’s title hopes.
The Reds boss has claimed that his side will treat the upcoming tie normally and added:
"It's another game, another three points for a win. The only difference this time is the fact that, if we win, we will move a bit closer to them. It's an opportunity to help yourself and dent their chances at the same time."
Liverpool have an impressive record against Manchester United at Anfield. The Reds have won the last three fixtures at home; however, Dalglish has insisted the previous results will not have any importance for Saturday’s fixture.
The Merseyside club recorded an impressive 3-1 win over Sir Alex Ferguson’s men last season, and Dalglish wants his players to give the same performance this time, too.
“In this fixture last season, we got our reward for playing very well and won 3-1. But we won't get anything on Saturday because of what we did the last time we faced off against them,” the Scotsman added.
Dalglish predicts a highly contested fixture for both sides and added, "We know what we're up against and so do they. Nobody will have an easy 90 minutes. "
Liverpool are currently placed fifth in the league standings with 13 points and a win for the Reds in the upcoming fixture will put them only three points behind the league leaders.
