Kenny Dalglish backs http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707
New Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish says he can help the struggling Fernando Torres get back amongst the goals.
Since signing from Atletico Madrid back in the summer of 2007, Torres has been Liverpool’s most prolific striker. The Spaniard has scored a remarkable 62 goals in 98 appearances for the club. However, the goals seem to have dried up of late.
Torres has shown that he is capable of brilliance, particularly when you analyse his performance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in November 2010. But overall, the striker has been underperforming in the current campaign.
Torres has been a shadow of his former self in 2010-11 season, and his poor form is one of the key reasons for Liverpool’s recent fall from grace. Kenny Dalglish believes that he can help Torres to return to his goalscoring ways.
Speaking on Torres’ poor form at the moment, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss said, “It's strange for players of his calibre when you are talking about lack of confidence. But at the same time he is a top goalscorer and someone everyone fears when he's on the pitch. I
hope I can help him - and I will do in any way I possibly can. We'll get him going sooner rather than later. Someone asked me if I had a magic wand for Fernando. I said I don't need one, he has got one himself.”
The Liverpool legend is widely considered the club’s best-ever player, scoring a phenomenal 172 goals. However, he also went through a similar bad patch during his career. At one point, Dalglish played 22 matches without scoring a single goal. He says he
can use his experience to bring Fernando Torres back to his deadly best.
Dalglish added, “I went through a worse spell than he did, so I can pass on advice. I've got fantastic respect for Fernando, not only as a footballer but also as a person as well. When he signed for the club, he really threw himself into learning about the
history and the tradition of the place, he really soaked it all up. And since I've been in charge he's been brilliant!”
We will see whether Torres takes Dalglish’s advice to heart when Liverpool face Blackpool on Wednesday.
