After yet another disappointing result for Liverpool, Dalglish has now come out and said that Liverpool were suffering from tired legs against Wigan along with the lack of backup players as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to
Wigan Athletic...
Liverpool went into the match against Wigan Athletic as favourites despite their recent lack of form but that equation was turned on its head by the underdogs who marched on to claim all three points against Dalglish’s men.
Liverpool’s form of late has been patchy to say the least and with criticism mounting up on their legendary manager, Dalglish is now under fire and also under pressure to produce some results on a consistent basis till the end
of the year. The Scotsman who took over from Roy Hodgson last year has not done a spectacular http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 failed to finish in the top four teams of the Premier League and thus missed
out on a UEFA Champions League spot.
This season they remain unlikely contenders to finish in the top four yet again but they have won the Carling Cup which gives them an automatic entrance in the Europa League. Nonetheless, their domestic form has been woeful to
put it lightly which means that the players as well as their manager is under pressure to make things right at Anfield.
Dalglish said in his interview, "We were disappointed because a lot of the final balls and good positions we didn’t deliver. I just thought we looked a bit tired. We had a lot of possession in the game, we gave away the ball a
lot in vital positions and it’s not because they can’t play, it’s because of tiredness. We’ve not got enough players to give them adequate rest."
He added, "It’s a problem given to the players by the television schedules and maybe the fact that we’ve done well in two cup competitions obviously has given us lots of extra fixtures". Dalglish will hope that he can turn his
team’s fortunes around and guide them to a respectable finish as there are a few games left in the English premier league season now.
