Kenny Dalglish blames referee for Everton loss
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has lashed out at referee Phil Dowd after his side’s 2-2 draw against rivals Everton.
Dalglish pointed out that the referee failed to penalise Everton at key moments of the game. Everton scored 2 goals in the space of 6 minutes after Liverpool had taken the lead. Dalglish said that both goals resulted due to bad refereeing.
Dalglish stated that the corner which led to Everton’s first goal should have been a goal kick while Jermaine Beckford’s goal, which gave Everton the lead, came after the referee failed to spot a foul on Liverpool defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Kelly-c24395.
The Liverpool boss said, “The first goal should have been a goal kick and not a corner. Even if I had not got lenses in I could have seen that. For the second one, Martin Kelly got battered and then we got turned on the edge of the box when he was about
to clear it. Maybe on another day you would get those decisions given in your favor. But at this moment in time there is not a great deal of good fortune going our way.”
Dalglish had recently remarked after Liverpool’s 1-2 loss to Blackpool that his side is facing sheer bad luck and are losing despite playing well. He reiterated that again after the match against Everton.
He said, “It's a great credit to the players that they continue to tap away at the door and to try and get better luck. The harder they try the sooner it will come.”
He, however, insisted that the club requires good results to get themselves back on track. He also claimed that the club needs trophies and stated, “We can't live on past glories for ever at Liverpool.”
Everton’s manager David Moyes on the other hand seemed satisfied with the result. However, he admitted that his side should have taken all three points as they were ahead at one stage. Liverpool salvaged a point through a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 penalty, which levelled
the match at 2-2.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 currently lie 13th on the League table with 26 points. They have already lost 10 League games in the 2010-11 season and cannot afford to lose another match.
Liverpool’s next fixture in the league is an away match against the Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Merseyside club has already lost 1-0 to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 this season at Anfield under former manager Roy Hodgson.
