Liverpool’s manager has praised the efforts of the Reds’ defence and the rest of the team as one of the reasons their Goal Keeper has kept so many clean sheets.
Dalglish has been busy these past few days, speaking to the press on a number of occasions, yet he still managed to take time out to praise his team’s effort in helping http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 hit the kind of form that the goal keeper is in at the moment.
He began by praising the keeper in an interview with the official club magazine, “The clean sheet on Monday (against Tottenham Hotspur) was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670’s 10th of the season, which puts him at the top of the list in the division.”
Reina, currently shares top spot with Manchester City goal keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699, as both the players are level on 10 clean sheets each. However, since the Liverpool keeper has conceded fewer goals in the matches he has played in; he currently enjoys the higher
position when it comes to the table.
However, he went on to highlight the contribution of the rest of the team as well, “But while it is the goalkeeper who gets the recognition, everybody plays a part in achieving those clean sheets.
Pepe made a really good save late on in the game on Monday and, like the rest of the team, made an important contribution to us getting the result.”
The Liverpool keeper also hold another top position when it comes to statistics in the Premier League, as the Spanish player is the only goalkeeper to have set up five goal scoring opportunities this term.
Also, his 10th clean sheet came in just 24 matches and his career record for the club makes for impressive reading as well.
The Spanish keeper has kept an astounding 118 clean sheets in the 224 games he has played in the Barclays Premier League, which means that Reina keeps a clean sheet every other game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will be counting on their keeper to maintain his form and keep another shut out as Dalglish looks to take his side to Old Trafford on the weekend to face bitter rivals Manchester United.
