After a goalless first half, both the teams took to the field in the second half to try and get something out of the game. With both Arsenal and Liverpool pushing for a goal, it was the Reds who capitalized on a lucky break and were awarded a goal, via Aaron
Ramsey. The Arsenal midfielder was caught at the wrong place at the wrong time and couldn’t do much to avoid pushing the ball into the back of his own net.
Nonetheless, as the match progressed, Liverpool pushed the ten-man Arsenal and went on to score a very late goal through Luis Suarez. That goal by the Uruguayan killed the game and ensured the Reds picking up all three points from the fixture.
A very delighted Kenny Dalglish, in his post match interview, is quoted to have said: “We’re delighted.”
Dalglish was very impressed by the standard of football played between Arsenal and Liverpool and revealed that draw would have been a fair result to both teams for playing such fantastic football.
“I thought it was a fantastic game of football, and even if we’d have come in with a draw I still would’ve said the same thing it wouldn’t have altered the quality of football played by both sides.”
However, the manager was pleased with his side getting all three points against one of the title contenders. Dalglish stated that Liverpool deserved the win over Arsenal and has urged the Reds’ to continue their impressive form throughout the ongoing 2011/12
Barclays Premier League.

“We’re delighted to have won, I think we just about deserved it so for us it’s great to get our season off and running with a victory.”
Liverpool now have four points to their name from two Premier League matches.
