Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has praised the Kop for showing extraordinary support to their team following the Reds embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at White Hart Lane.
The 18-time English champions were completely outplayed by Harry Redknapp’s side as they slumped to a humiliating defeat which saw them concede four goals, while not even managing to net a consolation goal. Moreover, this loss is the worst defeat that Liverpool
suffered at the hands of Tottenham, in over 46 years.
Dalglish has hailed the fantastic support shown by the Reds fans despite a disappointing performance from the team. The fans were very vocal throughout the match and kept on chanting to show their support, despite a bad result.
The Scotsman revealed that his players were very impressed by the calmness shown by the supporters and has insisted that the Reds are fully committed to repay the faith shown by the fans.
Dalglish said in an interview, "For us the best part of the day was the support we got. The fans supported us fantastically and I think the boys will bear that in mind and look forward to repaying them in some way.”
Liverpool were down to nine men by the half hour mark at White Hart Lane and Dalglish has claimed that the Reds were not at their best even when they had 11 men on field. The Reds boss is disappointed to lose three points but he is confident that his players
will be able to bounce back from the bad patch in form which saw them lose two back-to-back matches.
“We don't think we played well, even with eleven men we didn't play well. Maybe that's the standard we are setting for ourselves but we are not going to settle for anything less,” the Scottish gaffer stated.
The Merseyside manager has assured the fans that his players will always try and give their best performance in every match, as he went on to add, “We will look to do the best we possibly can in every game, we won't always play well but we will always try
our best.”
