Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has hailed the Reds’ impressive performance in a comfortable 2-1 win over n-power Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion. The two sides locked horns in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
The Scotsman was pleased to see the Merseyside club recover from the humiliating 4-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool started off the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier campaign impressively with two wins and a draw. However, the Reds have hit a rough patch as they have suffered two back-to-back defeats in the league.
Kenny Dalglish’s men experienced a shocking defeat against Stoke City and underwent a horrible 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
The Carling cup tie against the second tier minnows gave Liverpool a golden chance to recover from their poor run of form, and Dalglish is happy to see his side bounce back in an empathetic fashion.
The Merseyside club manager told the reporters, “Liverpool in the first half played some fantastic football, in the second Brighton had a lot more of the ball, Pepe [Reina] never made many saves and they didn’t look like scoring until they got the penalty.
I think it was a fantastic response to what happened on Sunday,"
Dalglish also hailed the performance of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brighton-c38685 and Hove Albion against the Reds. The Seagulls are playing their first season in the n-power Championship after securing promotion last season. Brighton began their season impressively and were leading the
league table before their recent loss to Leicester City.
The Seagulls are currently placed third in the league standings, and Dalglish believes that Brighton have all the attributes to earn the Premier League promotion. The Scotsman revealed that the hosts gave his side a tough time and the Reds had to play at
their best in order to emerge victors.
“They’re a good side Brighton, they’re well organised and they got a bit of pace about them, we had to play really well to get through, but we’re delighted and the team deserves credit for the way they played.”
Liverpool will now play their next match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on Saturday.
