Kenny Dalglish linked with Liverpool's manager position as Roy Hodgson admits Torres' moving fears
Kenny Dalglish is again being linked for the manager's position at Anfield. King Kenny was one of the favourites to land the job after the departure of former boss Rafael Benitez. In the end, Liverpool's board went with the last year's Manager of the Year,
Roy Hodgson.
There have been calls for the sacking of Hodgson after seeing Liverpool at the bottom of the table with only 6 points from 8 games and just 1 win. A whole host of names are being linked with Kenny Dalglish, Martin O Neill and Louis Van Gaal among the top
contenders to replace the under fire Roy.
With the departure of Managing Director, Christian Purslow, who played a big part in the appointment of Roy Hodgson, the door is now open for Kenny Dalglish to stake his claim.
Christian said today, "I came to LFC to lead the club through a sale process, to get the best overall deal including, vitally, the removal of debt. I am immensely proud of what we have all achieved. I now look forward to assisting the owners in any way
I can at this exciting time as they drive the club forward to a bright future."
Roy’s indefensible claim that his team dominated the derby has brought worldwide criticism upon the disillusioned manager. He has lost support from the fans after he cited that the performance against Everton was their best so far this season.
Hodgson has further brought the wrath of Liverpool supporters upon him by claiming he fears that Fernando Torres might be leaving to Manchester United as a replacement for Wayne Rooney. Hodgson believes that Torres would be a Manchester United target if
Rooney is to leave Old Trafford.
"I think I'd have to say we'd cross that bridge when we come to it. I am pretty sure when a great player like Wayne Rooney is looking to leave his club, Manchester United will be in a position to target an awful lot of players around the world", he told
reporters.
Roy added, "I don't think Fernando Torres would be the only player they will be targeting or [we would be] the only club worried that their star striker is going to be a target. They will have the opportunity to replace him with many star strikers around
the world, so all I can say is I am not naive to the situation.”
Roy maintained that he will try to keep his star man, but failed to give any assurances that Fernando will not be sold. "I am not naive enough to think there is no danger we will ever lose a player like Fernando Torres. I can only hope we won't and I will
make certain I do everything in my power to keep him happy at the club, help him improve his current form and to get him playing for Liverpool as he has in the past."
Rumours are that Fernando Torres isn't happy at the club and there are fears that he too like Wayne might suggest that he wants to leave. The club's new owners, New England Sports Venture (NESV), already have given assurances to Torres that the club will
be moving into the right direction. But, if results on the pitch continue to remain abysmal, than sooner rather than later the owners will have to make a move.
In King Kenny, NESV have a quick fix to the problem which might be as an interim boss at the beginning. In truth, Roy Hodgson’s days at the club seem numbered unless he can win games, starting from tonight in Naples.
