After going down to ten men and losing a two goal advantage in the second half of their Premier League tie against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 rallied to score a late winner at Ewood Park and take all three points away from
the relegation strugglers...
Kenny Dalglish’s team looked like a team on the brink of another disastrous Premier League defeat at the hands of minnows such as Blackburn Rovers but a late goal by Andy Carroll gave them a well needed victory at Ewood Park on
Tuesday night.
It was a moment of joy for the former Newcastle United player who has found it hard to win over the critics at Liverpool. His powerful header brought about all three points for Liverpool and subsequently he has received praise
from Kenny Dalglish. Dalglish has been defending his team against criticism of late and it looked like that he would have to do more of the same when Liverpool squandered their two goal advantage in the second half over Blackburn Rovers.
This turnaround was brought about by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 Reina’s sending off in the first half but fortunately for Liverpool the consequent penalty kick was saved by Bradley Jones, the stand-in goalie. In the second half, Blackburn Rovers were
awarded another penalty kick which was converted by Yakubu this time around. Nonetheless, Carroll’s heroics won over the away crowd in the end.
Dalglish said, "We can't speak highly enough of the effort and commitment of the players. We went 2-0 up and then went down to 10 men. The supporters drove them forward and in the second half they came out and did really well.
At the end of the day we just about deserved to win. We are delighted for the players - it has not been the best of times for them.”
He added, "It doesn't mean to say we have turned any corners but it gives everyone a lift. We are delighted with the result and the three points and the only way we can handle the post-match press conference is to praise the players”.
