http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s manager has come out and made it clear that he wants his team to step up and play better in the English Premier League so that they can finish in the top four teams and gain a place in next season’s UEFA Champions
League competition...
Dalglish’s arrival has certainly changed things at Liverpool, from being a club which was on it’s way out of the elite of English football under Roy Hodgson courtesy of the wreck that was left by Rafael Benitez, the Scotsman has
reinvigorated the players and the backroom staff at Anfield and given them belief that they can go on to win something.
Last weekend, Liverpool captured their first trophy in over six years as Dalglish’s team won the Carling Cup at Wembley stadium in London after a tense penalty shootout win over Cardiff City. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 lifted the cup for the
Reds but a long way still remains till the end of the current Premier League season. Liverpool’s form in the league has not been as good as it has been in cup competitions but their manager has not come out and called up his players to do their bid in order
to secure a UEFA Champions League place.
Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League in 2005 when they defeated Milan after a penalty shootout following their magnificent comeback against the Italian giants. Milan were leading the match by three goals to nil but a second
half blitz by Liverpool brought the score line to 3-3 which eventually led to a penalty shootout situation where Liverpool emerged victorious.
Talking about Liverpool’s next league match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, the Scotsman said, "They (Arsenal) were fantastic - 2-0 down and then they got five goals in about 20 minutes, which is a fantastic turnaround. They were going through
a tough time after a heavy defeat in Milan [losing 4-0 to AC Milan in the Champions League] and I think that took the wind out of their sails. But whether or not both clubs won last Sunday this was always going to be a difficult game.”
Dalglish will hope that his team can gain a vital win over Arsenal at Anfield on the weekend as doing so will certainly bolster their chances of making it into the UEFA champions league next season as Arsenal are one of the contenders
for the fourth place spot as well in the Premier League.
