The Liverpool manager confirms that his team won’t take the field if their tie against Everton or Sunderland in the semi-final of the F.A Cup is scheduled to be played on the weekend that falls on the 14th and 15th
of April, the latter being the date when the Hillsborough disaster took place...
Kenny Dalglish has come out and made it clear that his team won’t play their F.A Cup semi-final on the 15th of April which is the Hillsborough disaster anniversary date where 96 football fans died at the Sheffield ground.
Dalglish’s stance has given rise to a sensitive debate as to whether or not Liverpool should be given special treatment due to their connections with the Hillsborough disaster or should they be forced to play their scheduled match
on the 15th of April, 2012. The Reds recently claimed a place in the semis of the F.A Cup with an emphatic win over Stoke City in the quarterfinals of the competition.
Liverpool will face their rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 or Sunderland in the semi-finals once the dates are rescheduled as per the club’s demands. In the English premier league, Liverpool’s form remains questionable as their strikers have failed
to regain their form and despite creating goal scoring opportunities there remains a lack of a finishing touch in the final third of the field.
Dalglish shed light on the issue of playing on the 15th of April, as he said, "We won't play on the 15th. The FA and UEFA have always been exemplary and very supportive, and that's great credit to them. I don't think
it's even worth a line in a paper that we might play on the 15th because we won't. We've never played on the 15th before, have we? So there you are. Why would they change now?"
He also spoke about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s performance against Stoke City in the quarterfinals of the F.A Cup, Dalglish stated, "It was as difficult as I expected. They started really competitively at a high tempo for first 20 to 30 minutes
and we had to match them. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 was not too busy but they are always a threat from set-pieces and throws. I think it was a fantastic performance in many ways for us. It was not the best in terms of how we passed the ball but the way we competed and put
our bodies on the line set an example for everyone.”
