not done well in front of goal this season as their strikers have been quite wasteful.
Pundits have pointed towards the fact that Liverpool have struck the “woodwork” regularly this season, in fact the Reds have the highest number of goal post hits this season in the Premier League but such a stat only goes onto
reflect on the troubles in Liverpool’s offensive force. Andy Carroll’s failure to live up to his 35 million pound price tag as well as Luis Suarez’s mid-season eight match ban has contributed to such a conundrum at Anfield but Kenny Dalglish is adamant that
a solution will be found.
He said, "With what we have got here, we have got to put the finishing touches to the good work that we have done. Whoever comes up with the solution – whether it is a centre-back getting 20 goals a season – I'm not really bothered.
We just need to find a solution. We need a bit of good fortune that we all hope to get. It's a wee bit ironic the number of penalties that we have missed [six, excluding shoot-outs] and yet we end up winning the [League] Cup on penalties."
Liverpool have already won one piece of silverware this season as they defeated Cardiff City on penalties in the Carling Cup final but the Reds main target is to qualify for European football by finishing in the top four teams
of the Premier League. Dalglish will hope that his strike force can deliver the goods till the end of the season in a much more effective manner than they have done so far.
