Kenny Dalglish wants Liverpool to give Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher long term deals – EPL News
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has reiterated his desire that the Reds should offer long term contracts to the Merseyside’s influential and experienced players, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.
However, the Scotsman has confirmed that director of football Damien Comolli will be responsible for the contract negotiations.
Captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 have both entered the final stages of their glorious careers and it has been reported that the duo's time at Anfield is very close to ending.  
The Liverpool skipper recently returned from a six month lay-off due to a groin injury and recently inspired the Reds to a draw against English champions, Manchester United.
Gerrard’s current deal runs out in 2013, however, Dalglish wants his skipper to pen a long term contract as the Scotsman believes that the English midfielder has the ability to perform in the top flight for a few more years.   
Carragher has started the current season impressively as he has featured in all of the club's games. The Reds manager is happy with the defender’s form and believes that Englishman can contribute for the foreseeable future.
Dalglish believes that Carragher and Gerrard are the two most inspirational members of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s squad and has asserted that the English duo has a huge influence on the team.
The Reds boss told the reporters, "I don't have a figure in mind - and Damien's never had one in mind about years, in terms of when you get to 30 you only get a one year contract or whatever."
The Scotsman believes that a player should not be given a contract extension based on his age; he should be judged by the level of his performances for the team.  
"For me, you just judge the player on what he does on the pitch, it doesn't matter what age he is. There is no given for anyone, it doesn't matter what age you are,” the Merseyside boss concluded.
