Kenny Perry educates students about UVs on Kids Day at the Transitions Championship – Golf News
Prior to the formal start of the Transitions Championship at the Innisbrook, around 800 students participated in the Kids Day held by the Transitions officials.
Transitions is the eye-care photo-chromic lenses manufacturer and the title sponsor of the PGA Tour’s event.
This is not the first time that Transitions has organised the Kids Day, as it has the history of holding such events.
According to the company officials, the main purpose of providing an opportunity to the students to come and play golf before the start of professional event is to give them a chance to connect with professionals and get valuable tips about the game.
Moreover, it also allows the company to present its company mission and vision in front of the students who were present on the course.
Transitions spokesman pro Kenny Perry was also there on the course to give the students lessons on the Osprey driving range.
Perry is a professional golfer from the United States. However, he has been out of the course since he had had two Lasik surgeries.
Therefore, he needed to have special Lasik contact lens to wear. For this purpose, he is wearing Transitions for the last four years and believes that they suit them the most.
He educated the students about the Ultraviolet rays that can damage their eyes while playing game on the course.
Therefore, he advised them to wear special glasses to avoid being affected by the UVs.
Moreover, he also educated the students about the age when the UVs attack the most on eyes, kids under the age of 18. He said that 80 percent of the UV exposure happens before a kids turns 18.
For that reason, all of them need to wear some quality glasses to avoid major issues such as cataracts and macular degeneration.
Perry has always been busy throughout his life spending time with the students and participating in the charity events.
He has the routine of donating five per cent of his all earnings to the less privileged students who cannot afford their college degrees.
This is why Transitions also chose him to be their spokesman at the tournament.
