Kenny de Schepper battles past Andis Juska in the second qualifier – Mons Challenger 2012 CH
French contender, Kenny de Schepper, successfully pocketed his win against the Latvian challenger, Andis Juska, in the second qualifying round of the Ethias Trophy 2012 held in Belgium. Although the French professional received
a surprising upset of 4-6 at the start, he jumped forward to mark his straight sets win of 7-5, 6-1 in approximately two hours on Sunday.
The duo encountered each other for the second time, since the start of their tennis careers. Previously, Juska gave a surprising upset to his higher ranked rival at his home ground at the France F5 in the year 2010.
The 25-year-old, Schepper, was unable to hold initial serve in the opening set and his rival marked a 2-0 lead by the end of the second game. After that point, both players held their serves all the way and provided each other
with a tough competition. Juska dominated for the majority of the time, blocking his rival and swiping all the points as the game kicked forward. Eventually, he closed the opening set with a 6-4 score line.
The 27-year-old, Juska, stamped a relatively better initial serve precision of 63 percent with 15 of 22 points. From two break points presented, he could capitalize on only one. Schepper’s had an average first serve presentation
of 50 percent with nine of 15 points.
The Frenchman held his initial serve in the following set and confidently drew the first blood. However, the score line squared down after every second, Schepper nudged forward to secure the last two games and concluded the set
with a 7-5 lead.
The French professional dominated the set by firing seven aces and sustained his improved serve accuracy of 70 percent. He converted 23 of 30 first and six of 13 second delivery points. His opponent fired four aces and displayed
57 first serve precision, with 12 of 21 points.
The world number 202, French participant completely shattered his challengers confidence and dissolved his serve twice i.e. in the second and the fourth game respectively. Despite of his clear victory he remained focused and did
not give rival a single chance to topple the tables. In the end, he concluded the match with his spectacular win with a bread stick.
