Kent Street favourite for Mary Robinson MBE Novices´ Hurdle
Sue Smith’s trained runner, Kent Street, has been given the best odds for winning Mary Robinson MBE Novices´ Hurdle at Hexham in England on Thursday, March 15, 2012. The triumphant horse will bag a cash prize of £2,738.
The 2 mile 110 yard event has attracted 11 runners and their names are: Kent Street, Hidden, Swift Arrow, White Fusion, Graceful Descent, Major Domo, Purcell´s Bridge, Sands Of Vatersay, Oakwell, Copt Hill and Ahhdehken. The race is scheduled to start at
2:55 GMT and the going will be good.
Kent Street has managed to win the confidence of the bookmakers, despite not being in good form over the past few races. He has entered four hurdles in his career until now, winning just one of them. Other than that, he has also managed a runner up and third
place finish each.
The seven-year-old gelding started off his career nicely, but failed to produce consistent results. His past couple of outings were also not as good as expected, which might discourage the bettors from risking money on his victory.
In his most recent appearance, Kent Street finished fourth at Newcastle. He was given decent odds for victory, but failed to meet the expectations of the bookmakers. His start was not bad, but kept on losing momentum as the race progressed. However, his
trainer will be expecting an improved display of speed and stamina from him.
Today’s favourite runner will be partnered by young jockey, Jonathan England, who will be chasing his maiden victory.
The bookmakers have also given good odds to Hidden, who needs to be at his best in order to win his maiden race over hurdles. He has entered three of such events and the best he could manage was a runner up finish once. Other than that, he also managed to
secure third position on one occasion.
The six-year-old gelding found some rhythm over the past couple of events, but will need a special effort to bring up victory today. He will be ridden by seasoned campaigner, Paul Moloney, who has earned 155 victories over hurdles. However, he needs to work
on improving his strike rate.
White Fusion, trained by Andrew Crook, has also won a single race over hurdles and might manage to cause a few problems for the rest of the participants.
