Kent beat Glamorgan by 14 runs (D/L) method
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802 beat Glamorgan by 14 runs due to a Duckworth-Lewis ruling in a rain affected match in the Fri ends Provident T-20 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Kent batted first as the overcast conditions welcomed the batsmen from the start.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784 did get the ball to move around and made life difficult for the batsman.  There was no standout contribution from Kent but a number of 20’s helped them post a fighting total of 158 for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, the Glamorgan innings was cut down to 14.4 overs and the target reduced to 109 runs. The rain affected the outfield which became soggy and slow in the second innings while the pitch absorbed a good amount of moisture offering some assistance to the seamers. Glamorgan could not play the big shots and managed just 95 runs from the allotted 14.4 overs.
Denly and Hockley opened the batting for Kent as the Aussie speedster Shaun Tait took the new ball alongside Croft and cased problems to the opening duo from Kent. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hockley-c63280 scored just one run and was dismissed in the first over as he was out Lbw to Croft. South African Jaarsveld came in at number 3 position and dealt well with the moving ball and searing pace of Tait. Jaarsveld and Denly added another 35 runs for the second wicket partnership. Jaarsveld was dismissed after scoring 11 runs from 10 balls with one four as he was stumped while going for a big one against Cosker.
Pakistani all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Mahmood-c1116 was in next but did not find it easy to get on with it and struggled to get runs. Denly was the next one to go as he was cleaned up by Tait in his final over of the first spell as Tait got one to jag back which knocked the off stump of Denly. He scored 30 runs from 19 balls with 3 fours and a six.
Next man in Jones did not last that long and was run out by a direct hit from Dalrymple as he scored just 6 runs from 4 balls with one four.
Mahmood managed to get 14 runs from 22 balls with one boundary before he decided to use the long handle and was held in the deep by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brown-c48671 off the bowling Dalrymple.
Blake and Stevens finally put together a good stand for the 6th wicket as the pair added 39 runs before Blake was cleaned up by Cosgrove after scoring 25 runs from 13 balls with 2 fours and a six.
Tredwell came to the middle but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stevens-c91368 left with the total at 121 he was bowled by Cosker after scoring 28 runs from 15 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Tredwell added 25 runs in the end to take the score to 158 and was dismissed off the last ball of the innings.
The Glamorgan innings was reduced to 14.4 overs and the target was cut down to 109. Openers Bragg and Cosgorve started well and put on 43 runs for the first wicket. The pair scored at just under the required rate, but the target was still within reach.
Bragg was dismissed after scoring 15 runs from 22 balls with 2 fours; he was caught by Stevens off the bowling of Tredwell.
The next man in was Maynard at a time when there was a need to lift the scoring rate. However, with the damp conditions prevalent, Glamorgan batsmen found it hard to get the ball away. Cosgrove was the set batsman and tried his best with 3 fours and 2 big sixes, but that was too little too late for Glamorgan.  In the end, they could only manage 95 for the loss of 3 wickets and fell short by 9 runs. Australian Cosgrove was named man of the match for his all-round performance.
