Kent rout Essex by eight wickets: Friends Life T20 – Match Recap

The visitors failed to defend the total though, as the Kent batsmen achieved the target in the 18th over of the innings, losing just two wickets. The team’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-Key-c2349, was the top scorer of the match with 75 runs.
Key won the toss and put the opposition into bat, as he expected some assistance for the bowlers in the first half of the game. His prediction proved to be correct, as batting became http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 easier in the second innings compared to the first.
Essex were not able to get off to a good start, as they lost their opening batsman, Adam Wheater, early on. He struck two lovely boundaries, but was not able to score much runs, getting out for eight.
However, the innings was put on track by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/OA-Shah-c2134 and Pettini. The pair batted really well, scoring 55 runs for the second wicket partnership. The latter was the more aggressive amongst the two and seemed to have no problems in the middle. He got dismissed
for 36 runs off 26 deliveries with the help of two fours and the same number of sixes.

Shah looked well set, as he had spent quite a lot of time in the middle. He was unable to make most of the start he got to his innings though and was sent back to the pavilion after adding 34 runs to the total from 38 deliveries.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Bryan-Foster-c65514 tried to build a partnership for their team towards the end of the innings, but didn’t manage to cause too many problems for the opposition. They got out for 19 and 17 in their respective outings.
Essex ended up with 153 runs in their innings, losing eight wickets. They were troubled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Ball-c41883, who took two wickets in the match for Kent.
The hosts had absolutely no problems chasing down 154 for victory. They were given a 55-run opening stand by Key and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JL-Denly-c1703. The latter got out for 20 in his impressive knock.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Mahmood-Sagar-c46915 and Key collected 97 runs for the second wicket partnership, taking the game away from the opposition. The latter was run-out for 75 in the 18th over, but Mahmood remained unbeaten on 50, guiding his team to victory.
