The first day of the four day match of the County Championship Division Two between Kent and Gloucestershire took place at the College Ground, Chelentham on July 20, 2011, where Kent were 63 for the loss of six wickets at the end of the 21st over.

This left the visitors in all sorts of trouble at 43 for 3. More was to follow, as Will Gidman started his spell, inflicting more pain on the Kent batters.
He first removed the dangerous looking Sam Northeast on a ball that pitched and straightened, which took the edge of the bat and went in the gloves of the wicket-keeper.
Northeast, up till then had moved on to a brisk 34 off 33 balls, with the help of 8 fours.
