Kenta Ito pockets Men’s 50m freestyle title in Tokyo: 2011 FINA World Cup Series
The breathtaking swims of Japan’s Kenta Ito and Rie Kanetou deflated their rivals in the arena during the penultimate day of the 2011 FINA World Cup Series in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday, November 13. Ito notched Men’s 50m freestyle title, while Kanetou earned
Women’s 200m breast-stroke crown.
Kenta Ito of Japan ousted his challengers including Kyle Richardson of Australia and Alain Bernard of France by knocking the finishing divider in a thrilling time of 21.25 seconds to win the Men’s 50m freestyle title. After the race, Richardson claimed silver
medal in a blot of 21.55 seconds and Bernard settled for bronze title in a spot of 21.60 seconds.
The fourth, fifth and sixth positions was captured by three more Japanese athletes in the puddle, including Shinri Shioura with a time of 21.90 seconds, Ryo Ishii with a mark of 21.94 seconds and Makoto Itou with a blot of 22.04 seconds, respectively. In
addition, Yuuki Kawachi of Japan grabbed seventh spot by hitting the finishing cordon in a spot of 22.12 seconds and Kenji Kobase of Japan finished eighth in a time of 22.23 seconds.
In the meantime, the Women’s 200m breast-stroke tiara was taken over by Rie Kanetou of Japan in a thriving mark of 2 minutes and 19.72 seconds and Saya Fujimoto of Japan pocketed silver title by claiming the finishing blockade in a time of 2 minutes and
19.94 seconds, respectively. The bronze medal was captured by Rae Da Jeong of Korean in a mark of 2 minutes and 21.55 seconds.
Additionally, Keiko Fukudome of Japan earned fourth place honours by touching the finishing fence in a mark of 2 minutes and 21.62 seconds, while the fifth spot went to Japan’s Mio Motegi in a time of 2 minutes and 21.66 seconds. Meanwhile, Yeon Su Back
of Korea earned sixth place honours by striking the finishing barrier in a blot of 2 minutes and 22.15 seconds.
Joline Hoestman of Sweden settled at seventh place in a blot of 2 minutes and 23.07 seconds, while Ayumi Koshiyama of Japan claimed eighth spot in a mark of 2 minutes and 26.18 seconds.
