Kento Momota brushes aside Tan Chun Seang in first round battle of Singapore Open – Badminton news
Japan’s young talent, Kento Momota, displayed his staggering skills in Men’s Singles first round when he trounced Malaysia’s Tan Chun Seang at Li Ning Singapore Open 2013 in Singapore, on Wednesday, June 19.
The lofty Momota, who entered into Singapore Open as a qualifier, continued his smashing performance and showed exit to Chun Seang by finishing up the contest while consuming just 26 minutes on court.
Momota’s incredible confidence and aggressive approach enabled him to stretch his winning run in this Super Series championship. He easily overpowered his Malaysian opponent in straight sets with a lopsided total of 21-15 and 21-9.
On the other hand, Chun Seang failed to capitalise his attacking play as he could not shake the confidence of his young challenger. He failed to tackle the growing pressure and eventually crashed out without even getting a reasonable total.
Momota entered in the arena with an aggressive approach and he played to his maximum speed in starting rallies. He was in complete charge of the affairs on court and set up a comfortable lead without facing any trouble from his rival.
Meanwhile, Chun Seang failed to get familiar with court conditions and conceded many unforced errors. He also missed many easy opportunities to earn points that kept him miles behind his Japanese opponent until the one-minute interval.
After the mid-game break, Momota sailed smoothly as he remained fully focused and did not commit unforced errors. He easily found gaps by playing with incredible speed and took the first game with a fantastic margin of 21-15.
The second game was a nightmare for Malaysian shuttler who failed to stop the aggression of Momota and remained struggling far behind until the end of first half.
Japanese player continued his inspiring play without showing any mercy to Chun Seang who was struggling hard to match the remarkable speed of his opponent.
Momota executed powerful smashes with perfect angles and maintained a huge gap on the board. He was very comfortable in the execution of strokes from all areas and eventually finished off the game with a one-sided 21-9 total on the scoreboard.
